Nvidia in Talks to Acquire Israeli AI Firm Run:AI

by | Mar 17, 2024 | Company Reporting

In a bid to bolster its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, chip giant Nvidia is reportedly in discussions to acquire the Israeli AI company Run:AI, according to sources familiar with the matter. Run:AI specializes in developing software for managing AI computing resources, a critical component in the rapidly expanding AI industry.

While the exact terms of the deal remain undisclosed, sources estimate its value to be in the range of hundreds of millions to potentially even a billion dollars. Both Nvidia and Run:AI have refrained from commenting on the ongoing negotiations.

This potential acquisition marks another strategic move by Nvidia to reinforce its foothold in Israel’s thriving tech ecosystem. In 2019, the chip behemoth acquired Israeli networking company Mellanox for approximately $6.9 billion, further solidifying its presence in the region.

Founded in 2018 by Omri Geller and Dr. Ronan Der, Run:AI has quickly emerged as a key player in the AI infrastructure space. The company’s innovative platform, Atlas, leverages advanced virtualization technologies to optimize AI computing resources efficiently. This platform caters to a diverse clientele, ranging from Fortune 500 enterprises to cutting-edge startups, spanning industries such as finance, automotive, healthcare, and academia.

Run:AI’s strategic focus on enhancing AI processing capabilities aligns seamlessly with Nvidia’s broader vision, as the chip giant gears up to unveil its latest advancements in AI technology at the upcoming GPU Technology Conference (GTC) in San Jose, California.

Nvidia’s stock has surged by an impressive 80% since the start of the year, propelling its market value to a staggering $2.2 trillion. With over 30,000 employees worldwide, including approximately 3,200 in Israel, Nvidia’s presence continues to exert a significant influence on the global tech landscape.

For Run:AI, the potential acquisition represents a significant milestone in its journey of innovation and growth. With access to Nvidia’s vast resources and expertise, Run:AI is poised to accelerate its development efforts and expand its global footprint.
